Leveling Up Installs: How Twitch Display Drove Cost-Efficient Growth for aPC RPG Game
Back to Case StudiesObjective
To generate installs for a new PC role-playing game (RPG), the brand set its sights on a highly specific—and highly engaged—audience: adult gamers in the U.S. who identify as core players and RPG enthusiasts. Over a three-week flight, we brought the campaign to life on Twitch, using immersive display and video placements to meet players where they spend the most time: inside a streaming-first, gaming-obsessed environment.
Strategy
To engage this high-intent audience of core RPG gamers, we launched a dual-channel strategy on Twitch—activating both display and video ads to build presence across the user journey. Twitch’s interactive environment allowed us to reach players in real time, boosting engagement and driving an efficient CPA. We layered behavioral targeting with algorithmic optimization to hone in on the most likely converters, continuously refining performance throughout the campaign. With Gamesight powering install tracking, we gained clear visibility into downstream impact, ensuring every impression delivered measurable results.
Results
The campaign outperformed expectations, successfully driving 784 installs at an efficient cost per acquisition (CPA) of $21.19. Display ads led the way in both cost-efficiency and engagement, while algorithmic optimization significantly lifted video performance mid-flight.
Strong performance early in the campaign led to a 38% mid-flight budget increase, as continued Gamesight tracking revealed high-quality downstream impact. Strategic channel diversification and real-time refinements made the difference—ultimately surpassing the brand’s performance benchmarks and showcasing Twitch as a powerhouse for reaching niche, high-intent gaming audiences.
